David King
After a decade of serving as a neighborhood security aid and managing restaurants in Milwaukee, King moved to Meridan, Georgia where he helped a local ministry implement a Youth Center program. In 1996, he returned to Milwaukee to establish a prison ministry with the goal of rehabilitating prison inmates. From 1997 until 1999, King managed a Transitional Living Facility named the “Mountain of the Lord House.” This institution offered counseling, social assistance and spiritual guidance to men, including former inmates, drug addicts and the homeless. Soon after he started a Transitional Home for Single Mothers called “The Lord House of Rest” with the goal of encouraging single mothers to become spiritually strong and to gain and maintain social-economic independence. He expanded his mission enterprise in 2001 with the S.W.E.E.P. (Soldiers, Walking, Evangelizing and Empowering People) Community Justice Center, which helped place individual in employment and provided secured housing.
